Olympic flag raised at Wallasey Town Hall

WIRRAL sports personality of the year, 16-year-old Peter Millar has set his sights on 2012 after raising the Olympic flag at Wallasey Town Hall.

The Special Olympics athlete from Tranmere was the guest of honour at the ceremony.

Wirral joined 399 other councils raising the flag in anticipation of 2012 up and down the country to commemorate the official handover of the Olympics from China to the United Kingdom on August 24th as the 2008.

Olympic gold medallist and Chairman of the London 2012 Organising Committee, Sebastian Coe said: “We are delighted that so many local authorities share our excitement and are proudly displaying the Olympic Handover Flag to mark this very special moment on our journey to 2012.”
