THOUSANDS of spectators lined the promenade from Seacombe to New Brighton on Monday to wave farewell to the Tall Ships.
Many lined the steps at Wallasey Town Hall to see the ships coming in to view from 2pm.
High winds in the wrong direction meant many ships weren’t in full sail, although most had half or full sails, with rigging decked in flags.
Around 60 Tall Ships took part in the Parade of Sail after docking along the Mersey on Friday.
The ships were due to sail to Northern Ireland yesterday (Tuesday) ahead of the first leg of the Tall Ships Race to Maloy in Norway.
Wirral Council leader Cllr Steve Foulkes joined over 60 council staff to volunteer as a steward during Friday’s opening parade.
He said: “I was really pleased to be able to offer my services for what was a fantastic event for Merseyside.”
