Pupils and parents to help design new building for Poulton Primary and Park Primary Schools
PUPILS, parents and staff at Park and Poulton Primary Schools in Wallasey are helping architects to design their new school.
Poulton Primary is closing at the end of this term and almost all the children at the school will join nearby Park Primary.
A new school is scheduled to open in September 2010 on the Park Primary site.
Over three hundred children will be housed temporarily in Poulton Primary’s building while the old Park building is demolished and a new school built.
Last Wednesday (July 9) the school day was devoted to workshops to make sure all views are heard before plans are drawn up.
Themes included outside spaces, eating/social spaces, sustainability and learning environments.
The day will be run by the British Council for School Environments along with council staff from the Children and Young People’s Department and Technical Services.
Sessions involved all pupils from reception age upwards as well as parents, governors and staff.
Headteacher Hilary Ryan said: “This is an outstanding opportunity to work in partnership with Sharon Wright, a leading national figure in school design.
“Our children and the whole school community are really looking forward to working with Sharon to create a world class vision for Park Primary’s new building.”
