NESTON'S Christmas festival will still go ahead despite site preparation work for the Neston Town Centre development planned for the first week of December.
The Raby Road entrance to the Town Hall car park was originally due to be closed to pedestrians and vehicles from Sunday, November 30 until Thursday, December 4.
But CTP Developers have now promised the work will be completed in two days rather than four.
Steve Banks of CTP said: "This really was the last chance we had to do this essential work before Christmas. Obviously when we heard that our work clashed with the festival we wanted to do all we could to make sure the event wasn't affected."
"The festival will be taking place from November 30 to December 7 and will feature late night Christmas shopping, a treasure trail through the town centre, a craft fair and a lantern parade.
The two remaining car parks at Brook Street and Chester Street will not be affected .
Extra parking has been arranged at the British Legion, which will be free of charge, on Wednesday, December 3 for the evening lantern parade.
Neston and Ellesmere Port Council’s property unit manager Julie Powell said: "At the moment we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact of this work on the programme of events."
