Tributes paid to Neston man who died after being struck by a train

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Neston man who died after being struck by a train.

Michael Frain, 33, died on the railway line at Neston on Saturday, November 15.

His death is being investigated by British Transport Police (BTP), although officers say it is "not suspicious".

A BTP spokeswoman said: "A 33-year-old man from Neston died after he was struck by a train at Neston railway station.

"The train involved was the 3.32pm Wrexham Central to Bidston rail service.

"The incident occurred around 4.30pm and was attended by us and the local ambulance service. Police are treating the incident as non-suspicious.

"The railway was handed back to Network Rail at 5.44pm."

A group on the social networking website Facebook has now been set-up by his friends and family, entitled RIP MIKE, to pay tribute to Mr Frain. To date 110 people have posted messages of sympathy and support.

Derek Marshall called Mr Frain "a truly brilliant uncle to Chloe, Leonie, Tiffany and Dylan, and a truly brilliant brother to Sharon and brother-in-law to him".

Helen Bladen wrote: "You are going to be missed by a hell of a lot of people."

Jess Ryan called former Neston High School pupil Mr Frain a "wonderful man, loved by so many people".

Katie Ellam wrote: "Words cannot express how much you will be missed. Neston won’t be the same without you."

Mark Halsall said Neston has "lost a true friend".

He added: "I will remember the good times, especially at my dads party in the Legion in August when you joined us on stage to sing You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Mr Frain’s funeral will take place on Friday, November 28 at 12noon at Neston Church (St Marys & St Helens).
