Tributes for Neston crash victim

TRIBUTES have been paid to a young Neston woman who died in a car crash.

Carrie Ann Cannell, 23, of Warwick Close, Ness, died of her injuries at the scene. It is believed her red MG Rover car had left the B5130 road in Chester and collided with a tree.

Her passenger, a 19-year-old woman from the Chester area, remains critically ill at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

The accident happened on Chester Road, Huntington, at around 4am last Wednesday (October 22).

Paying tribute to Carrie, her sisters Lauren and Tara Cannell said: “Our sister Carrie Ann, a daughter and a grand-daughter, will be sadly missed.

“She was well loved by everyone who ever knew her. Her bubbly personality lit up every room.

“Our Caz loved to go out and party and fully enjoyed her short life. She is gone but not forgotten.”

Carrie’s father Trevor Cannell said of her: “She is sadly missed but not forgotten, and will always be in our hearts.”

A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “A red MG car left the road and collided with a tree.

“As a result, the driver, a 23-year-old female, died of her injuries at the scene.

“Her front-seat passenger, a 20-year-old girl, received serious internal injures and is currently being treated at the Countess of Chester.”

She added: “An 18-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“He has been released on police bail until January 2009.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw the Rover or a Peugeot 306 driving in the area at the same time.

“They should call Sergeant Rachel Gallagher or Sgt Dave Harrison of the Western Area Specialist Investigation Unit’s road policing section on 01244 613163/68.”
