CHESHIRE'S new council has lent its support to the redevelopment of Neston town centre.
The initiative - which won planning permission from Ellesmere Port and Neston Council last month - will see a supermarket built with housing and community accommodation as well as a new town square.
Cllr Herbert Manley, Prosperity Portfolio Holder, said: “This is a positive and exciting step forward for Neston.
“This initiative was developed to address the decline and loss of shopping spend in Neston.
“I believe that the package that the Executive of Cheshire West and Chester has supported will achieve this by bringing vitality and focus to the town centre.”
The new council will take power from next April.
