Neston's former police station to be turned into flats

NESTON’S former police station on Hinderton Road is set to be transformed into a set of 42 flats for the over 55s.

Plans were initially rejected in 2005 but now a developer, the Ladson Group, has now come up with a new plan which saves the building, which dates from 1939.

Neston Civic Society and residents were opposed to the first planning application, which proposed demolishing the police station and using the land for a new-build development.

The police station's status as a locally listed building will now be preserved with its existing frontage, seven bays and sash windows retained.

Ashley Ladson, director of the Ladson Group, said: "The Ladson Group is committed to preserving and enhancing the character of the existing building and the surrounding area in which it sits.

"We are working closely with Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council to ensure it is developed sympathetically and in accordance with the planning consent granted."
