Neston’s pioneering i-Pod trails

NESTON’S own website, created by the Neston Market Town Initiative, with the support of the North West Regional Development Agency and Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council, is celebrating its first anniversary.

To mark the occasion, www.neston.org.uk has launched three audio trails which can be downloadedon to a computer, i-Pod, or MP3 player.

Peter Weston, leader of the volunteer website team, said: “We want to make Neston attractive to young people, who may prefer an i-Pod to a leaflet. Neston can claim to be the first market town in Britain to offer audio trails.”

The three audio trails guide visitors around Nest on Town Trail, Parkgate and Neston Parish Church, pointing out items of interest such as the Falklands Chapel in Neston Parish Church, or Dover Cottage where Lady Hamilton stayed while on a sea-bathing visit to Parkgate, or the crinkle-crankle wall at Vine House in Neston, once used for growing peaches.

For those without an i-Pod or MP3, the trails can be followed by leaflets, available on the website, or from Neston Library or Town Hall.
