Facelift for Wirral Way

VISITORS to the Wirral Way are being asked to remain patient while the next phase of a facelift of the path gets underway.

Phase two of the Wirral Way Restoration Project involves the stretch from the Visitors’ Centre at Thurstaston towards Heswall.

Work has just begun on resurfacing this section of path, meaning it will be closed to visitors for the next three weeks.

Councillor Bob Moon, Wirral Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “We know the Wirral Way and Wirral Country Park is held in very high regard by a great number of residents right across the borough – the visitor numbers bear this out.

“We obviously apologise for the inconvenience caused over the next couple of weeks while this vital work takes place but also appeal for people’s understanding and forbearance.

“I’m confident that the benefits of the improvements will far outweigh the short-term disruption, resulting in a greater quality of life for all those who use the path and park.”

The resurfacing of the path is taking place using recycled materials.

As well as the path, improvements to the bridleway and cycle path are also taking place and the council says the whole area will be more accessible.
