WEST Kirby Lifeboat was called out to rescue two people in their stricken dinghy.
The two sailors, one a novice and one an experienced seaman, got into difficulties after damaging the rudder on their yacht following a capsize in the Dee Estuary on Wednesday afternoon.
After managing to turn the craft the right way one of the sailors had to remain in the water to act as a rudder for the yacht, risking hyperthermia.
Despite their efforts, they made little headway in strong winds.
The inshore lifeboat crew secured a tow to the yacht before returning the grateful sailors and their damaged craft to the slipway at West Kirby.
