JAMES Bond actor Daniel Craig has thrown his support behind an appeal to fund a new RNLI lifeboat in Hoylake.
The £2m RNLI Hoylake Appeal has been running for just over a year and has so far raised £900,000 to help fund Hoylake’s lifeboat station, which is now complete and will be officially opened on Saturday, November 1.
Craig, who grew up in Hoylake, has written the foreword for a new brochure publicising the appeal.
He wrote:“It was somewhere to meet, a place to climb and fall off and usually to be chased away by an annoyed lifeboat man after you had asked him for the thirtieth time to be taken out in the lifeboat.”
Hoylake RNLI Coxswain Dave Whiteley said: “Everyone in Hoylake is very proud of Daniel’s success and we are absolutely delighted that he wanted to give his backing to the appeal.”
To contribute to the appeal send a donation to RNLI Hoylake Appeal, Admail 4049, Hoylake, CH47 1AA.
