Wirral guide dog Yaron takes the lead to win national award
THIS is Yaron, a guide dog who has won a national award for his service to his partially sighted owner Jon Hastie.
Black labrador Yaron won the Beyond the Call of Duty Guide Dog of the Year 2008.
Yaron was given the title after bravely helping his owner’s seven-year old niece Charlotte after she became distressed in the sea on their family holiday.
Jon said: “Charlotte has been telling everyone how he had saved her life.
“Yaron went beyond the call of duty.”
Jon Hastie, who is head of the educational support team at West Kirby Residential School, said: “Yaron has really made a positive impact on people’s lives here.
“The children’s behaviour has changed in the two years since his arrival.”
