Inquest hears West Kirby barrister was found dead after row with partner

AN INQUEST heard how a Wirral barrister was found dead an hour after he had threatened to kill himself.

Mark Gray, 41, was found in his bedroom on July 19 with a dressing-gown belt around his neck after an argument with his partner of six years, Amanda Quinn.

Mr Gray, of Park Road, West Kirby, worked for the Wirral-based National Family Law Practice with Ms Quinn. Engaged for two years, they had lived together since Easter.

They rowed after a night out and Mr Gray was upset as they discussed their relationship in the morning.

Coroner’s officer Arthur Flower said Mrs Quinn had told how Mr Gray had put the cord around his neck and said: “I really will do it this time”.

He had done this several times before and she became used to his behaviour.

She left the room but on returning found him slumped on the floor.

Coroner Christopher Johnson recorded a narrative verdict.
