Hoylake lifeboat helps rescue injured crew man onboard cargo ship

RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat sped to the rescue of a 64-year-old injured crew member on board the cargo vessel Atlas Amelia.

After receiving a call from the captain, coxswain Dave Whitely steered the all-weather lifeboat toward the moored vessel which was sitting at the entrance to the Mersey.

The Lady of Hilbre lifeboat was successfully manoeuvred up alongside the vessel enabling RNLI volunteers Chris Norman and Ron Schank, who is also a paramedic, to assist the casualty on to the lifeboat.

After steering a course to Woodside landing stage, Mr Whitely and his crew transferred the man to the waiting ambulance.
