West Kirby youngsters on beach-tidying quest

HARD-WORKING pupils from West Kirby Primary School will be spending Friday cleaning up the beach in a bid to save wildlife from the effects of swallowing litter dropped by uncaring visitors.

The youngsters, whose school was recently awarded Silver Eco status, will be giving up their holiday time to help Ranger Lyn Greenstreet collect as much litter as they can.

They will also have a special assembly in school about the rise in litter on British beaches and the devastating effects this can have on wildlife as well as the importance of keeping them clean for residents and visitors.

Teachers and members of the Parent Teacher Association will be running competitions during the day for the most litter collected and the funniest and strangest items of litter.
