Meols horticulturalists design topiary Beatles

WIRRAL horticultural specialists have designed and cultivated life-sized topiary figures of the Beatles.

The fab foliage tribute to the Fab Four was unveiled across the Mersey last week, at Liverpool South Parkway interchange.

The topiary Beatles were grown in Tuscany, Italy, from privet and placed into a metal “skeleton” by artist Franco Covili 18 months ago.

Steve Nicholson, director of Meols-based The Bigger Plant company, said: “They were a little surprised when we asked them to make The Beatles – it is the first time they have ever received a request like this!

“It was a real challenge but the results are fantastic.”
