John celebrates his centenary
A HOYLAKE man has celebrated a very special birthday.
John Eden turned 100 at Palm Court Residential Home, where he has lived for the past seven years, on March 18.
The father of a son and a daughter, he has one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
Mr Eden spent his working years in the RAF and the Midland Bank in Liverpool - where he opened a bank account for Ringo Starr.
He celebrated his 100th birthday with visits from family and friends.
Jill Kenny from Palm Court said: “John is very bright and he’s got a very good memory for the past. He likes classical music and he still reads the Daily Telegraph every day.
“He’s very particular about his appearance and he has a shirt and tie on every day.
“Lots of his colleagues from the bank, friends and family came to visit him on his birthday.”
