Chester’s County Hall sold to city’s university

A NEW council is to sell off its headquarters and move across the road to the site of a former Cheshire Police base.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is to sell County Hall – previously home to the defunct Cheshire County Council – to the University of Chester.

It will then move across Nicholas Street into a recently completed building in a £28.75m deal.

The council said the move will save taxpayers at least £4m across Cheshire over the next five years in running costs and business rates.
