Music workshops are on offer at Redder Music in the old Champion spark plug site

SUMMER music camps are being offered at one of the coolest post-industrial buildings in Wirral.

For a registration fee of £10 and a £30 charge per session, talented youngsters aged between 10 and 18 can be guided round the mixing desk by industry professionals, or given tips on how their band could make the big time.

Redder Music is running the scheme from its studio in the former Champion spark plugs site on Arrowe Brook Road, Upton.

Now known as Fallen Industries, the huge building has been transformed into a mecca for creatives, and Redder Music’s Simon Barker wants the facilities to be utilised by all.

Simon told the News: “For a lot of the youth today, their musical tastes are not catered for in the education system.

“They’ll be able to get used to the stuff they won’t get in mainstream education.”

The workshops are spilt into four groups; sound engineering and music technology; band and DJ rehearsal and development; electronic music creation and re-mixing; as well as music performance, promotion and management.

An open day is being held this Saturday, August 8 between 9am and 5pm.
