WHEELS are in motion to deliver aid from Wirral to the homeless of Romania.
And the Birkenhead-based charity Pater Noster is calling on the people of Wirral to help get them there.
The charity’s founder, Iain Ogilvie, is heading a two-vehicle convoy to the area around Ploiesti where he and Pater Noster colleague Chris Phillips are concentrating their “feed the homeless” project.
A car and a catering trailer being towed by the charity’s van - both packed with essential aid items - leave Wirral over two days next week, starting on Friday.
Chris said: “Our main need is sponsorship for the £1,200 cost of the fuel. Diesel has become hugely more expensive across the whole of Europe, even since our last visit in May.
“We know this is a lot of money and we are not looking for the whole amount – any little that people can donate would be greatly appreciated.”
Iain explained that the charity’s main aim is to deliver aid to help the Romanian people themselves work on projects in their own country.
For next week’s trip, the charity is also asking for help with the provision of a first aid kit.
Volunteers are also needed in the future to help sort and box aid items at the Pater Noster base at the Price Street Business Centre.
Anyone who can help should call Iain Ogilvie on 653 5099.
