Ex-paramilitary to lecture at church

A FORMER paramilitary prisoner is coming to Wirral next month to talk about his life.

David Hamilton was an inmate in the Maze because of his activities as a commander in the Ulster Volunteer Force but now works as a pastor in a Manchester church.

He has been invited by a group of churches on Wirral to discuss his life and his conversion to Christianity while he was a prisoner.

The free event at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight, takes place on Wednesday, October 17 starting at 7.30pm.

Reverend Roger Wiles, who is one of the organisers of the event, said that he thought many people would find Mr Hamilton’s life fascinating.

He said of David: “I think that his story has a great deal to tell us. He changed completely, from a fighter to someone who works for peace.”

There will also be a talk by author and speaker Roger Carswell.

Tickets for the event are available by calling 07540 833714.
