FLORAL tributes were left outside the home of an elderly woman who lost her life in a blaze.
The woman, who was in her 80s, was killed after a fire broke out in the front room of her home on Richmond Street, New Brighton, Wirral.
Firefighters were called to the house at around 3.40pm on Wednesday.
The woman was named locally as “Joan” and was said to be from a family that ran the donkeys on the beach.
Floral tributes were left outside her home on Thursday afternoon.
One from Pat and Jean simply said: “So sorry” while another said: “Rest in Peace”.
The woman was said to live with her son. She was also said to have a daughter who lives in Wallasey Village.
Neighbours of the woman, who lived on a quiet residential street in the shadow of the Floral Pavilion, spoke of their shock at her death.
Neighbour Margaret Kennedy said she was confined to the house for a long time but before that used to go out shopping. She said: “She was a neighbour I always said good morning to.”
