Owners of Bromborough’s closure-threatened bowling alley reveal plans for new centre

THE owners of Bromborough’s closure-threatened bowling alley have spoken for the first time about their fight to save it.

In May the owners of the Croft Retail Park announced plans for a £7m redevelopment of the park’s leisure area, which would see The Bowl replaced by non-food “bulky goods retail space” and the Odeon cinema upgraded but made smaller.

But the proposals prompted noisy protests by young bowlers and representatives from disabled bowling groups.

Co-owner Stuart Jaap told the News he and business partner Trevor Green have found new premises in Bromborough for a smaller, 16-lane Bowl – but warned the move could take time.

Mr Jaap, who lives in North Wales, said: “We’ve found a unit in Bromborough which is our preferred building.’’
