Bromborough storyteller joins national board

A professional storyteller from Bromborough has been appointed to the board of directors of the Society for Storytelling.

Tom Goodale, 39, of New Chester Road, was appointed at the society's annual celebration in Oundle, Northamptonshire.

Speaking of his passion, London-born Tom said: “Storytelling is incredibly important. Stories are what the world is made of ... they can help with everything from developing thinking skills, to emotional literacy, to coping with trauma.”

He hopes his prior experience of working on large projects and his enthusiasm for storytelling will help the society reach out to more people.

Since moving to Wirral from Cardiff in 2008, Tom has become a regular feature at the National Wildflower Centre in Court Hey Park and regularly appears at Tales Around The Fire at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton.

The stories Tom tells are mostly traditional folk stories of myths and fairytales although he has been known to make up stories on the spot.

As part of the Working Class Life and Music Festival, Tom is set to appear at ‘The Mouth’ on Monday, April 25 alongside co-hosts Bill Dawson and John Hughes.
