IS this the greenest church congregation in Wirral?
St Mary’s in Eastham has scooped an Eco-Congregation Award in recognition of its environmentally friendly achievements.
The independent award recognises churches making a link between environmental issues and the Christian faith and responding with practical action in church and in the community.
Parishioners at St Mary’s are now adding their support to the CRed Wirral initiative, which asks Wirralians to make pledges to reduce the carbon they create in their daily lives.
Helena Mayles, who leads the Eco-Congregation group at St. Mary’s Church, said: “We are very proud to have earned the Eco-Congregation award, as it recognises our commitment to caring for God’s creation.
“We are delighted to work alongside the CRed Wirral campaign, which shares the same goals.”
