A £1.15M solution to congestion problems at one of Wirral’s busiest retail parks was unveiled this week.
An all-vehicle, cycle and pedestrian link at the Croft Retail Park in Bromborough was officially declared open by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Alan Jennings on Monday.
It is hoped the road will be a long-term solution to years of traffic problems at peak times and at busy periods like Easter and the run-up to Christmas.
Police officers were brought in last December to direct vehicles, but this was not seen as a long-term solution.
The new road, next to DW Sports, will enable drivers to enter the park direct from Stadium Road.
Previously they had to access the park via two entrances on Caldbeck Road, with the majority using the busy junction with the A41.
Park owners USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd) funded the project.
USS’s Retail & Leisure Manager, Fergus Egan, said: “We are delighted that the link is opening.
