Bebington High Sports College students teach primary pupils

STUDENTS at Bebington High Sports College are running extra-curricular classes at local primary schools.

A total of 18 students are currently volunteering, teaching various sports as part of their Community Sports Leadership Award.

Two female leaders from Bebington High are teaching football at Brakenwood primary, one male leader is teaching football at Church Drive primary, while another teaches Tag Rugby at both Brakenwood and St Andrews.

Sports student, Jack Plested, 17, said: “The primary schools are very grateful for our help and the kids really enjoy it.

“For me, it’s a great experience of teaching a wide range of sports.”

The skills learnt through the experience give students the qualifications to take forward to a coaching job as soon as they have completed the course.

Coaching badges are gained along the way, as leaders aim to climb the five steps of the “Leadership Ladder”, at the school, until they become full leaders.

Fifteen more leaders started teaching at clubs from Monday , and after a six week session, students will then repeat this at another primary school.
