TWO Merseyside paramedics have been awarded for their professionalism after a car crash in which five people died.
Dr John Harrison and Neil Allen were called to the incident in Spital, Wirral, on March 8.
They were both commended with awards from the former Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, Bernard Hogan-Howe, at a ceremony in Bromborough.
The crash killed former minister, Reverend Dr Graham Mercer, whose car collided with a Vauxhall Corsa carrying four people. The driver of the Corsa, Ann Hargreaves, 71, from Bromborough, her sister, Linda Wood, 59, from Eastham, Mrs Wood's granddaughter, Olivia, six, from Wrexham, and Joan Roden-Jones, 64, from Wrexham also died.
Mr Allen said: “I am shocked, yet honoured to have received this commendation.
“I feel very proud and feel that I have accepted this award on behalf of everyone from who was also at the scene of the accident.”
