Farmers’ market grant for scouts group

A WIRRAL scout group is set to benefit from a community grant from the borough’s award-winning farmers’ market.

Bebington District Explorer Scouts applied for the grant to help train two leaders in climbing and abseiling.

The £270 they were awarded will allow them to then take young people out and enjoy the outdoors in safety for many years to come.

Wirral Farmers’ Market developed a community grants programme in 2003 and has donated more than £18,000 to different groups since then.

The market is run on a voluntary basis and profits are invested in the local community through grants to voluntary and community organisations in the area.

The objectives are to promote healthy lifestyles and community regeneration in New Ferry.
