Wirral MP expenses include new bathroom, toilet roll holders and redecoration

EXPENSES claimed by Wirral's four Labour MPs since 2004 have been released by the Houses of Parliament.

Ben Chapman, Wirral South MP, will be rocked by further revelations, despite already deciding to step down at the next election.

Among Mr Chapman's claims are £19.80 for a toilet roll, £56.80 for a toilet seat, £5.50 for an ice cream scoop and £1,229 for a Smeg fridge freezer.

Stephen Hesford, MP for Wirral West, is slightly less headline-grabbing, but his expenses submission includes the request for reimbursement on a £5,559.63 new bathroom.

It appears the amount claimed for this was later reduced to £3,500, although there are many alterations in his forms.

Wallasey MP, Angela Eagle's expenses are far more austere than her constituency neighbours but do include £1078 spent on a mirror and sofa suite from BM Furniture, £69.99 on a new clock, £339.99 on a replacement television and £3,735 on redecoration, since 2004.

Frank Field, MP for Birkenhead, released his expenses several months ago, in advance of Parliament's decision.
