A MAJOR appeal was launched on Monday to raise money for a vital children’s cardiac scanner.
The Jellybean Kid’s Appeal aims to raise £80,000 in just 12 weeks to buy a new paediatric scanner for Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Arrowe Park.
The scanner assesses cardiac function in newborn babies and children and helps reduce the anxiety this procedure can cause.
The campaign, which will run to the end of May, is being supported by Halliwells LLP, Paver Smith, Wirral TV and Wirral CVS.
Ninety two teams have already pledged their support with fundraising ideas including a raft race, a 143-mile bike ride and a sponsored triathlon.
Debbie Green, Jellybean Kids’ Appeal fundraising manager, said: “We’re urging people to come up with quirky ideas to get involved.”
