United Utilities to carry out water pipe repairs in Higher Bebington tonight (Tuesday)

WATER pressure levels to around 3,000 homes across Higher Bebington could be affected tonight as United Utilities carries out emergency repair work from 7pm tonight (Tuesday)

Engineers will be repairing a 12" water main in Mount Road, which burst at the weekend.

Properties in the area surrounding Mount Road - between Tranmere Rovers FC and Victoria Park - may notice reduced water pressure.

The area affected will be between Tranmere Rovers FC and Victoria Park. Pressure levels should be back to normal by 6am tomorrow morning (Wednesday, February 11).

United Utilities’ water technical officer Dave Bates said: "If we leave this leak any longer it could get a lot worse and start to affect supplies.

"We are doing everything possible to ensure customers affected do not go off supply completely, but we would advise them to be prepared for lower than normal pressure whilst these essential repairs are carried out.

"We will be feeding water supplies to customers from a different part of the network until this work is completed so we would like to ask customers to please be patient when using their taps.

"We would also advise people to use water wisely this evening to ease the demand on the system.

"We are leaving this repair as late as we can so customers’ supplies won’t be affected at teatime, but the sooner we can start the better.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
