POLICE have decided no action will be taken against a teenager arrested after a fatal car accident which claimed the life of a young Neston woman.
Carrie-Ann Cannell, 23, was killed last October after the red Rover MG hatchback she was driving hit a tree in Chester Road near Aldford and her 20-year-old passenger was left with long-term brain injuries.
At the time police appealed for witnesses including anyone who saw a blue Peugeot 306 being driven prior to the accident.
An 18-year-old man had been arrested and released on bail until the end of January.
Now Cheshire Police has confirmed no further action will be taken.
The Cheshire Coroner’s office is awaiting the police accident report before setting a date for the inquest of office worker Carrie-Ann, known as “Caz”, of Warwick Close, Neston.
A post mortem examination showed she died of multiple injuries.
It was known the Rover had come from Butterbache Road, Huntington, prior to the accident at about 4am on October 22.
The passenger, only known as Hannah from Chester, was critically injured and spent weeks in the intensive care unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital before her condition improved.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “It should be made clear that the patient sustained serious head injuries and will require long term care.”
