THE stars came out for the re-launch of Clatterbridge Cancer Research at a ball in Chester.
And the newly named charity was kick-started by raising a total of £30,000.
Among the 250 guests at the ball were singer Natasha Hamilton, of Atomic Kitten; Brian Bovell from Hollyoaks, and The Bill actor Andrew Lancel. They were joined by Wirral cancer sufferer, 15-year-old Hayley Venables.
Dropping the word “trust” and unveiling a new logo, Clatterbridge Cancer Research is increasing its efforts to fight the disease and improve incidence and mortality rates in the region.
Starting with the ball, it is now set to embark on a high profile, pro-active campaign to raise awareness and support.
Its chief executive Jane Simpson said: “We are seeing advances in research but not quickly enough.
“The ball was evidence of how far Clatterbridge Cancer Research has come in recent years and we are incredibly grateful to all those loyal supporters who turned out help raise the £30,000.”
