Thugs beat up disabled grandad in foiled armed robbery at Bromborough off-licence
A DISABLED grandfather was beaten by thugs in an attempted robbery at a Bromborough off-licence last week.
Bill Metcalfe, 63, was subjected to a brutal attack as he worked in The Local on Allport Road on Tuesday at 7.45pm.
His two attackers smashed a metal bar into his head before throwing the till and computer monitor on top of him.
Mr Metcalfe suffered a broken nose, black eye, deep gouges to his head and cuts.
It followed a robbery at the same store 48 hours earlier, in which a 55-year-old shop assistant was threatened with a broken bottle and £150 cash taken.
Mr Metcalfe said: “I thought I was going to die and I’m still frightened by what happened.”
Merseyside Police is asking any witnesses to call 709 6010 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
