PAUL O’Grady’s former boss gave the star a shock last week by turning up at his book signing in Liverpool.
John Morgan, of Bebington, asked O’Grady to sign “to my ex-boss” on his copy of the autobiography “At My Mother’s Knee And Other Low Joints”.
John, former owner of Prescott’s newsagents in Church Road, Birkenhead, said: “Paul was my paper boy for nearly two years when he was in his early teens.
“So as he went to sign my book last week, I said to him “and don’t be late for the Echos tonight”.
“When he realised who I was, he jumped up and nearly squeezed the wind out of me.
“He was a good lad and always had a dry sense of humour – I don’t think he has changed with the fame and money.”
Prescott’s is named on Page 5, 198 and 215 in O’Grady’s autobiography.
