SOUTH Wirral MP Ben Chapman will be volunteering at his local Barnardo’s shop in Bebington on Friday as part of Make a Difference Day to help raise vital funds for families living in poverty.
The event encourages people to go along to their local Barnardo’s store and have a taster of volunteer work.
There are currently 340 Barnardo’s shops taking part in the scheme and they encourage people to go in to help sort items, steam clothes or work on the till.
Mr Chapman will be getting involved by helping sort clothes, restocking the shop floor and helping with the window display.
He said: “There are many important works which only come about through the work and generosity of volunteers.
“We can all help our local community in some way by donating our skills and our time.
“I would encourage everyone to get involved and volunteer in some way.”
Dawn Rowland, manager of the Bebington Barnardo’s shop, added: “Income from shops like ours is vital in maintaining Barnardo’s projects, which offer support to families in Wirral.”
l Make a Difference day is on September 25 but volunteers can go along to any shop in the week prior and the week after that date.
