WIRRAL Primary Care Trust has this week informed South Wirral MP Ben Chapman that plans for a minor injuries and walk-in centre facility at Clatterbridge Hospital are gathering momentum.
Having been favourably received by the urgent care and modernisation team, Mr Chapman’s suggestion is moving forward and progress is being made in developing a specification for the service.
He said: “People have been left frustrated by the existence of similar facilities at Arrowe Park and Victoria Central in Upton and Wallasey respectively, thus forcing them to face the inconvenience of an unnecessarily long journey if they need such services.
“However, it now seems clear that my campaigning on the issue will bring the service closer to home.”
Earlier this year Mr Chapman presented a petition to Parliament asking the PCT to provide a walk-in centre and minor injuries unit at Clatterbridge.
The MP added: “Hopefully, the PCT can now push on with these plans and positive results will come quickly. I am optimistic that they will.”
