A STUNNING freelance make-up artist from Wirral beat scores of young hopefuls to be crowned Miss Galaxy England 2012.
Megan Howell, 19, from Wallasey, who already holds the Miss Galaxy Wirral title, won the judges over at the competition held on Sunday night.
She now goes on to represent the country at a Galaxy International Pageant which is going to be held in Orlando, Florida, in July.
She told the Wirral News that she was “overwhelmed” to have won and said she was surprised to receive the accolade.
She said: “I couldn’t believe it. To win out of 60 girls – it just felt amazing.
“I’ve only been doing beauty pageants for two years.”
Miss Howell said she was crowned Miss Wirral Galaxy in November 2011 and that she first started doing modelling and photo shoots when she was 17 years old.
She said that winning the Miss England Galaxy title had now boosted her confidence to go further with her modelling.
Miss Howell studied make-up artistry at Wirral Met after attending Upton Hall High School.
She now works on a freelance basis in that industry.
Her mum, Jan Howell, who watched her daughter win, said she was extremely proud.
She said: “She looked fabulous, gorgeous. Everything was perfect for her. It was overwhelming.”
But Mrs Howell, a carer, who lives with her daughter and her husband Carl, a shop fitter, said she always knew her daughter had beauty queen potential.
The competition was held at The Park Hotel in Charnock Richard, Chorley, on Sunday.
Also a winner was Shauna Mallon, 17, from Kirkby, named Miss Teen Galaxy England.
