TWO men appeared in court charged over the death of a man attacked at a Wirral pub.
Kenneth Wylde, 32, died after suffering serious head injuries in an assault at The Wine Lodge in Charing Cross, Birkenhead.
John Burns, 32, of Aldford Close, Prenton, appeared at Wirral Magistrates today charged with manslaughter and perverting the course of justice.
He appeared alongside Tony Clark, 36, of Old Chester Road, Birkenhead, who faces a perverting the course of justice charge in connection with the death.
Both men spoke only to confirm their name, age and address, when they appeared before the bench.
Magistrates granted them conditional bail, but because this decision was challenged by the Crown Prosecution Service both men remain in custody awaiting the outcome of the CPS appeal.
The men are next scheduled to appear before Liverpool Crown Court on March 14.
Mr Wylde was attacked on February 10 and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
He died a week later on Friday, February 17.
A Liverpool Crown Court judge will make the decision on the bail appeal this Friday.
