A NEW heritage strategy and action plan to protect and develop the borough’s history has been formally adopted by Wirral Council.
Following an event at Birkenhead Park pavilion, including a talk by architectural historian Graham Fisher, the strategy aims to use the borough’s heritage to boost economic development and investment into Wirral.
However, the heritage strategy also aims to help protect buildings and sites of historic interest which are at risk through neglect or redevelopment, as well as areas of “high heritage value” which are in danger of being eroded through unsympathetic and inappropriate development.
