Oh baby, what a start to 2012!
A WIRRAL baby was the first to be born in Merseyside in 2012.
Isabelle Jane Morris completed a straight row of “ones” after she was born at 1.01am on January 1 at Arrowe Park hospital in Wirral, weighing seven pounds 13 ounces.
Proud parents Nicola and Chris Morris, from Bebington, had been expecting the baby to arrive on New Year’s Eve.
Isabelle will now be a little sister to brother Harry, aged two.
Nicola, 36, said: “Everything was pointing towards the baby being born on New Year’s Eve afternoon, but she just held in there.
“She would have been special whenever she was born, but I’m glad she wasn’t one of the last of the year.”
Birkenhead mum Nicole Haid also made a special New Year’s Day delivery.
The 19-year-old gave birth to little Marcus at 5.41am at the Liverpool Women’s hospital.
He weighed a healthy six pounds six ounces.
Nicole and her partner Matthew Galanakis, of Wavertree, said they were both delighted.
The new mum added: “We always thought the baby would be born early in the New Year, but then we were told he was induced on New Year’s Eve. I feel great and the baby is doing fine. The staff were amazing.”
Marcus had another starring role on national television when a Sky News crew filmed the new arrivals at the hospital.
Nicole said: “My mum got to see the baby for the first time on telly, so he’s already a little star.”
