Wirral Toy Run to deliver Christmas presents to young Arrowe Park patients

HUNDREDS of motorcyclists will ride across Wirral on Sunday to deliver presents to sick children in the 29th annual Wirral Toy Run.

Riders will gather at the dips in New Brighton at 11am in festive costume for the 18-and-a-half mile route, which finishes at Arrowe Park hospital.

Organiser Graham Heron said up to 400 bikers could take part.

One will be Wirral Mayor Cllr Moira McLaughlin, who has agreed to accept the donation of toys for Arrowe Park’s children’s ward on behalf of the bikers.

The event hopes to deliver Christmas cheer to children who will be stuck in hospital over the festive period.

Another toy run takes place on Sunday in aid of Claire House children’s hospice.

The sixth annual Bill Smith Charity Toy Run will start at 12pm, leaving Bill Smith motors in Chester and finishing at the hospice in Clatterbridge Road.

Claire House relies solely on donations and the money raised helps children with terminal and life threatening illnesses and their families. The run is open to anybody and riders will gather at Bill Smith Motors from 9am.
