Protect our plots plea as Wirral Allotment Watch scheme is launched

PC Keith Winstanley, crime reduction officer for Wirral, said: “We will be speaking to the secretaries of the 41 allotments to invite them and their members to join the Allotment Watch scheme.

“We know that this type of crime greatly affects those who have allotments.

“We hope that this scheme will help to reduce the problem.

“I would to say to those who may consider stealing something like an old trowel to consider the impact it has on people, in particular the many older people who use the allotments and take great pleasure in them, only to have this spoiled by such inconsiderate behaviour”
