New Brighton’s Nadia Musa talks about her year as Miss Wirral as organisers launch 2010 search for borough’s most glamorous ladies

THE search is on to find Miss Wirral 2010!

The borough’s most glamorous ladies are being asked to put their names forward for the annual contest – with the winner representing Wirral at Miss England later this year.

Organisers are adamant it isn’t all about looks and modelling and say they want to find someone who is confident, has good communication skills and will be a worthy ambassador for the area.

The winner will be encouraged to use their title to promote Wirral and raise the profile of charities and other good causes throughout the year.

Current Miss Wirral Nadia Musa won her title through the North West Beauty Awards in Blackpool but this year’s winner will be crowned at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight.

Miss Wirral 2010 will compete in the national Miss England contest later this year.

And with the winner of that competition going through to Miss World, our Wirral winner could well end up on the world stage.

Nadia, 23, from New Brighton, said: “It’s so hard to know what the judges are looking for. There are always girls who you think are absolutely gorgeous but the judges are looking for so many different elements.

“My year has gone so fast and it’s definitely opened a few doors for me.”

Nadia, who has a law degree, finished studying for a Masters in Events Management last September.

She says she now plans to pursue a long-held love of acting and has just finished filming a British Bollywood film, My Big Fat Love Story.

She said: “When I finished university I thought I’d give it all a go.

“I’ve got all my qualifications and I didn’t take a gap year so I wanted to give this a go.

“I’ve do really enjoy the modelling and I’ll keep that up but acting is my passion and I did it all through school and university.

“I know it’s a cliche but Miss Wirral has boosted my confidence a lot and you do have a great time.

“It encourages you to get involved in charity work, which I’ve found very rewarding.

“I’ve only seen positive things from it so I’d say give it a go!”

She added: “I’ve had a great time and I’d definitely like to do it again – it’s addictive!”

Organiser Mark Jones said: “Last year we had a great response from Wirral and it was extremely tough to select the winner.

“But Nadia wowed the judges with her looks, personality and charm and walked her way into the Miss England finals.

“We’re hoping to find another stunner this year to prove once again to the rest of the UK that some of the most beautiful and intelligent girls in the country come from the Wirral area.”

Prospective Miss Wirrals have until Friday, March 12 to enter the competiton via the website, www.misswirral.co.uk

They must be aged between 17 and 24 and must never have been married or have children.

The competition final will take place on Thursday, June 24 at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight.
