Prenton girl Jade meets Prince William

A SERIOUSLY ill girl from Prenton met Prince William – seven months after receiving a bravery award from his brother Harry!

Jade Arnell suffers from Arnold Chiari Disorder which stops fluid between her brain and spinal cord.

It causes chronic headaches, makes walking difficult, and prevents her from attending school.

The 12-year-old won the WellChild award for bravery last year, where she was presented with her prize by Harry, the charity’s Royal Patron.

The awards recognise not just the sick children but the doctors, nurses, teachers and brothers and sisters who help to make their life easier.

Jade’s family, including her sisters Gemma and Amber, took part in a fun day at the Lake District before they met the second in line to the throne.

He also met members of WellChild staff to learn about the work they do for sick children.

Jade’s Mum Gill said: “For young people like Jade whose lives are restricted by their illness, something like this makes such a difference. It can be hard for the whole family, especially when we are separated because Jade is in hospital.

“We are really grateful to WellChild for recognising how special Jade is and giving us all this wonderful opportunity.”
