Paul McCartney’s Wirral the Squirrel is all set for big screen debut

SIR Paul McCartney’s book about the adventures of a squirrel called Wirral looks to be heading for the big screen.

The musician could also pen new songs for the animated version of High In The Clouds, according to reports.

The book tells the story of Wirral the Squirrel, a “cheeky Scouse” mammal and his search for an animal sanctuary.

Michael Lynne, from production house Unique Features, part of the team planning to bring the project to life, was quoted as telling Hollywood news publication Variety: “Paul said he would commit to a score of original songs as part of it. That got our attention.”

It is thought the project would be Sir Paul’s biggest involvement in a major animation film since the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, in the late 1960s.
