Sister of Claire House inspiration set for London to Paris charity cycle

THE sister of the brave young girl who was the inspiration for Claire House is cycling from London to Paris to raise money for the hospice.

Jenny Cain and her partner Amy Roberts are starting the gruelling challenge on July 31 – when Claire would have celebrated her 30th birthday.

Wallasey schoolgirl Claire died in July 1989 aged just nine.

After years of tireless fundraising led by her parents Chris and Bob, Claire House Hospice, which provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care for children with life threatening or life limiting conditions, opened its doors in 1998.

It was later officially opened by the Duchess of Gloucester in April 1999.

Jenny, 23 and Amy, 24, will start their three–day, 320km ride at Tower Bridge and finish at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

Jenny said: “We wanted to do something special to mark Claire’s 30th birthday and to help Claire House.

“In the current financial climate they need our help more than ever before.”
