Flower power wins tickets

IF YOU are a flower girl living in Wirral you could be in with the chance of winning a special prize.

Southport Flower Show celebrates its 80th anniversary this year and as part of the celebrations if you are named after a flower you could win free entry to the show.

David Jackson, Chief Executive of Southport Flower Show, said: “This year is a really big year for Southport and a very special year.”

And as part of the celebrations of eight decades of success anyone who is ‘named after a flower’ is invited to write to the flower show offices in the seaside resort and a lucky 50 people will be picked out of the postbag to receive a free ticket.

But before the tickets can be sent out the “flower girls” will be asked to send proof of their identity.

Southport Flower Show, which has a reputation as one of the largest, most diverse and friendliest shows in the country, takes place from August 20 – 23.

The show has something for everyone.

Gardening enthusiasts can enjoy the million blooms that will be on display while budding chefs explore the new fine food offerings from local suppliers across the North West.

More than 250 exhibitors will take over 34 acres of Southport’s beautiful Victoria Park, offering everything from home and garden furniture to local crafts, food and wine.

Tickets go on sale on April 16.
